Niles the Mouse is the first story of The Slopes of Culdee Fell and was uploaded on October 1, 2015. It is also the fifth story in Thomas1Edward2Henry3's Railway Series.

Henry is sent to the works to pickup a special item. The Item is revealed to be Niles nicknamed "The Mouse", a new mountain diesel to be working on the Culdee Fell Railway. Once he arrives, Ernest shows him round the yard and introduces him to Jane, the maintenance truck. Niles is then informed by his driver that he is to double head a passenger train with Patrick. Upon arriving Niles accidentally couples up to the front of the coach much to Patrick's annoyance but quickly couples up behind. Patrick initially has a hostile attitude towards Niles due to rumours from the mainline about Diesels. Upon arriving at a crossing Niles sounds his horn to alert traffic but this annoys Patrick. Once they reach Devil's Back they find Culdee and Catherine stranded due to a broken axle. Niles then has an idea and quickly shunts Patrick and the coach behind Culdee explaining that he will push both Engines up the hill. Patrick initially hostile becomes amazed when Niles pushes both trains up the hill with no trouble at all. Back at the shed, Patrick apologises to Niles and all 8 other engines agree Niles is a really useful diesel.

  • This marks the first appearance of the Jonateers models of Ernest, Wilfred, and Eric.
  • SI3D's 2006 models of Culdee and Patrick/Lord Harry were used as the new models by the Jonateers didn't have the option to change faces.
  • Niles's model is a built in Trainz model of a narrow gauge shunter diesel. He is supposed to be based off the Snowdon Mountain Railway's "Ninian", and the black diesel looked similar.
  • Jane was not named in Mountain Engines. Thomas1Edward2Henry3 decided to give her a name for better character interaction.
